Venezuela: Help needed

By now, most of the world has seen the tragedy generated from the two back to back earthquakes (7,2 and 7,5 magnitude / one minute apart) that shook Venezuela last Wednesday.

Although the quakes were felt throughout the country and beyond, the costal region of La Guaira has been devastated.

Initial estimates are heartbreaking with:

• Confirmed deaths: 1,430* (number is set to increase)

• Missing persons: 69,000 (unofficial)

• Buildings collapsed: Estimates between 200-1,400 collapsed + many more affected

• Estimated economic loss: $6,7Bn

Images coming out of that region are unimaginable. No words can describe the heroic efforts taking place these past few days... you just have to see a few rescue videos to get a sense of the situation.

Global aid has been kicked off during the week and specialized rescue teams have come into the country from the U.S., Mexico, El Salvador, Ecuador, Colombia, Spain amongst many others. We are thankful for such a strong response. However, the country is and will continue to be in dire need of help.

Instead of going into the details of the crisis which has been widely covered, I want to urge any and all of you into the action of giving. Your support will go a long way in helping those in most need and time is critical.

Seeing the images from Venezuela, it is easy to feel heart broken and helpless from afar, however, it is energizing to see so many come together to support a nation in its darkest hour.
